Roland N. Poulin, 92, formerly of Central Falls, RI died August 4th, 2021. "Nappy", son of Hormidas Poulin and Aurore (Blais) Poulin, loving husband of Pauline (Cournoyer) Poulin of 66 years, passed away on August 4th at Fatima Hospital, North Providence, RI. He is survived by his wife Pauline, two sons David of Bluffton, SC and Paul of Lincoln, RI and three daughters, Elaine Oliver of Swansea MA, Robin Campo of Richmond, RI and Lynda Poulin of Pawtucket, RI. He is also survived by six grandchildren (and the late Mark Poulin of SC) and nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Roland was an army veteran of the Korean War and served in various parts of Europe during that conflict.
Roland was a member of the Teamsters union in various positions until his retirement in 1991. He was a native New England sports enthusiast – Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins as well as a fan of Big Band-era music and jazz, most notably the one and only Frank Sinatra. He was known to croon and sing along with any of the old “Rat-pack” entertainers. He enjoyed card-playing and cribbage which was a Friday night ritual with his uncles and cousins. His love for his children and more recently his grandchildren and great-grandchildren is without doubt, and family meant the world to him. There was nothing more important than having the family gathered for any occasion – as long as the children were around for him to spoil. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Carolina, RI on Wednesday August 11, 2021 at 10 am with burial in the Veterans Cemetery in Exeter immediately thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Continuum Hospice and Palliative Care, 1350 Division Road, Suite 205, West Warwick, RI 02893 or www.continuumhospice.com
